ENG 270 - Writing, Rhetoric and Culture3.00 credit hours An introduction to historical and contemporary theories of rhetoric and their application to writing. Students construct and critique written arguments, examining ways culture may be shaped by persuasive discourse. The class offers practice in analyzing a range of texts, identifying their historical or cultural contexts. By way of interpretive reading and critique, students consider central questions in the humanities and liberal arts more generally.
Prerequisite(s): ENG 115 or ENG 125 . Core: Humanities.
