ENV 240 - Introduction to Environmental Economics

3.00 credit hours
(Same as: ECN 240 .) Environmental Economics primarily examines the impact of economic activity on the environment and the shortcomings of the market system in valuing environmental costs and benefits. Traditional regulation of the U.S. economy, including command and control policies are briefly discussed. The focus of the course is the recent development and application of new and potential economic instruments to improve environmental quality. Other topics covered include the valuation of environmental resources and prospects for sustainable development.
