MUSI 261 - Jazz Harmony II

4.00 credit hours
Music theory as it applies to swing and bebop jazz styles: scale/chord relationships; harmonic notation; sectional song forms; alterations, substitutions and extensions. Stylistic changes that occurred after Bebop: modal and chromatic harmony, polychords, pedal points, free playing and quartal harmony.

Prerequisite(s): MUSI 260 .
