An introduction to data mining in the context of KDD (Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining), covering the three main phases of the KDD process: preprocessing, data extraction, and data analysis. Includes data cleaning and preparation techniques; extraction methods such as deviation detection, classification, dependency modeling, and clustering; statistical analysis; and visualization techniques. Repeats CSC 692 - Special Topics : Data Mining and CSC 664 Data Mining.
Prerequisite: CSC 560 .
