MHED 620 - Higher Education Past, Present and Future 3.00 credit hours The history of higher education are examined, including how it has been defined and developed over time, the different types of colleges and universities in the U.S., and what students have learned in college through the years. Students examine how higher education has been affected by events such as the Industrial Revolution, Civil Rights Movement, World War II and globalization, and understand how history and philosophy have shaped higher education in general. They begin to explore the purpose of higher education now and in the future and work to predict the future missions and structures of colleges, universities and higher education institutions.
