The world wars and the Kinder Transport; Cold War and defections from the former U.S.S.R.; the rise of the U.S. as a global superpower as England’s empire faded; and the immigration of populations from former colonies—all profoundly affect England’s identity. Students explore the literature, theatre, dance and films produced by these new generations of immigrant British as they negotiate their dual heritage.
