BIOL 103 - The Science of Water: From Wet to Wild4.00 credit hours (Same as: ENVI 103 ). Water is synonymous with life on our planet. More specifically, access to freshwater is key to like in most terrestrial ecosystems and a crisis of access is brewing globally. In this seminar course, we will discuss the science of freshwater, how ecosystems rife with it (swamps, marshes, etc.) provide us with important services and how protecting freshwater ecosystems can help protect biodiversity. We will use the Great Lakes as our local model to explore each of these topics. Includes integrated laboratory experience.
