MUEN 124 - Latin Jazz Ensemble0.00-0.50 credit hours
The Latin Jazz Ensemble is open to all instrumentalists and vocalists. In addition to the primary instruments, students will also be playing Latin percussions and singing coros (chorale) with syncopated rhythms that are distinctive to Latin Jazz. This course will encourage students to learn music by ear, moving away from the traditional notated score. Through active listening and imitation, students explore the repertoire of Latin Jazz standards and modern compositions, study them and perform in a concert at the end of the semester. Jazz improvisation is encouraged but not required.
