FRST 230 - Swords, Rings and Beasts: Tales From Medieval France

4.00 credit hours
An analytical survey of the major narrative genres from medieval France. Texts may vary but will represent the chanson de geste (epics), romance, fabliaux, lais, other forms of the narrative arts of the period. Special attention will be given to the question of how these texts may have contributed to elements of a French identity. Texts read in (English) translation.
