ENV 300 - Modern Environmental Issues3.00 credit hours
The capstone course for the Environmental Studies program. Led by professors from different departments with guest appearances by additional members of Environmental Studies faculty, this is an interdisciplinary course that integrates principles and approaches from the sciences, humanities, and social sciences to better understand modern environmental issues. In this course, students examine different ways of thinking about nature and the environment, and seek to understand the complex social, cultural, political, economic and scientific causes of environmental problems in order to evaluate potential and alternate social and policy solutions. Students also consider the ethical relationship between humankind and the natural environment and the relevance of various ethics and values to environmental decisions.
Prerequisite(s): One of ENV 120 , BIO 106 /ENV 106 , BIO 151 or HST 248 /ENV 248 .
