Mission Statement

The mission of the Computer Science and Engineering Department is to create effective problem solvers who understand and can apply the principles of computer science and engineering to meet the needs of society. 

The Computer Science and Engineering Department offers undergraduate programs that follow recommendations from the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Our courses and programs are developed and continuously reviewed according to the  Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) guidelines with input from various constituents including industry advisors as well as alumni.

All of our programs share the following characteristics:

  • A focus on building strong foundational concepts with emphasis on hands-on learning and applications;
  • Development of strong problem-solving skills leading to the construction of effective solutions;
  • Development of effective communication and group work skills;
  • Industry-relevant projects through both traditional coursework as well as co-curricular activities.

      Information systems are important as computers have become an essential tool for data management, analysis and decision-making in virtually all disciplines. INFS courses merge technical and application fundamentals so students can become effective developers and users of computer applications to support their major field of study.
