Mission Statement

The Kinesiology Department develops lifelong learners and professionals by combining educational opportunities with practical experiences that enable students to apply critical thinking skills to practice, preparing graduates for leadership and advanced study opportunities in a wide variety of professional settings.

A variety of majors prepare students for working in multiple settings such as health care, community health, the fitness industry and the sports industry. The foundation of preparation available through different majors in Kinesiology leads students to pursue graduate school programs in diverse areas in allied health, public health, and exercise, sport and business options.

The department of Kinesiology offers majors in Exercise Science, Health Science and Sport Management, and minors in Community Health Promotion and Sport Management. Graduate degrees in Athletic Training and Occupational Therapy are also offered through the department.

The Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) accredited program in athletic training is designed to prepare students for a career in the field of athletic training. The program is not admitting undergraduate students at this time as the program has transitioned to the graduate level. Students interested in becoming an athletic trainer should consider the Master of Athletic Training degree.
