Our program develops critical core competencies and fundamental knowledge that benefit professionals throughout their careers. Students learn the skills and knowledge necessary for success in early career opportunities and on professional examinations, and serve as a strong foundation for life-long learning and long-term professional growth.
Accounting
Consistent with North Central College’s liberal arts tradition, the accounting program emphasizes critical thinking abilities, communication skills and the importance of lifelong learning. As a result, students are equipped to respond to the everchanging role of accounting in our global economy. In addition to the curricular requirements, students enhance learning outcomes through participation in co-curricular, community-based learning and internship opportunities. The ethical responsibilities of accounting professionals are emphasized and embedded throughout all aspects of our program. Accounting courses emphasize communication skills, team-building, critical thinking, and problem solving skills. Students have the opportunity to pursue internship experiences with a wide variety of firms. Graduates usually seek full-time positions in public accounting, in private industry or in not-for-profit organizations. Graduates also have the option of attending graduate school to obtain a Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Financial Management, Taxation or other advanced degrees or areas of specialization.
