Major Requirements


At least 48.25 credit hours in biology and chemistry, including:

Research Experience


Students must take a course which incorporates a research experience. BCM 465  currently meets this requirement. Each student presents the results of this research in either the biology or chemistry seminar course, BIO 475 /CHM 475 BIO 475 /CHM 475  is taken over three (usually non-consecutive) terms. During the first two terms the student participates as an observer and questioner and enrolls in BIO 475 /CHM 475  for no credit. During the third term, the student gives the research presentation and enrolls in BIO 475 /CHM 475  for one credit hour. Students are encouraged to gain additional research experience by undertaking independent research under the direction of a biology or chemistry faculty member or by participating in a summer research program at a university, government or corporate laboratory.
