30 to 36 credit hours, depending on the concentration. All students majoring in sociology are required to take six core courses that together examine the central themes, methods, theories and career opportunities in the discipline.

Core Courses: 18 credit hours
Within the major, students must then select one of the following concentrations:
Criminal Justice: 18 credit hours
One course from the following:
Community Studies: 18 credit hours
One course from the following:
General Concentration: 12 credit hours
In addition to the core requirements above, students complete at least 12 credit hours within SOA, of which six credit hours must be at the 300-level or above.
