Music Education, Choral Track, B.A.

A typical student will need over 120 total credit hours to complete this degree. Music Education is the largest music degree program at North Central College, with approximately 60 majors. Students in Music Education complete core music requirements in theory/musicianship, music literature/history, conducting, methods/pedagogy and private study/ensembles, along with a comprehensive set of courses and clinical experiences in education. Music Education majors also have numerous opportunities for leadership through the student chapter of NAfME (the field’s leading professional organization) and in ensembles, productions and special programs.

For additional programs and courses in this department, see Music .

Note:

Each student is expected to take primary ensemble and private lessons on the student’s primary instrument/voice for credit. Only when the student would exceed the amount of credits applicable to the degree, or in unavoidable circumstances where the student will exceed 12 credit hours in a term, may the student register for “no credit.” Under no circumstances may the student participate in an ensemble or take private lessons without registering.

The Secondary Education Supplemental major is required
