NURS 534 - Neurophysiology and Psychopharmacological Approaches Across the Lifespan 3.00 credit hours This course is designed to build upon the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner student’s prior knowledge of advanced neurophysiology and pharmacology to develop the knowledge and skills necessary for practical application of psycho-pharmacologic medications in the treatment of mental illness across the lifespan. The focus is on the neurobiological and psycho-pharmacological principles for the clinical management of psychotropic medications in the treatment of abnormal behavior related to neurotransmitter abnormalities and mental illnesses; integrating neuroanatomy, pharmacogenomics, neurophysiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and behavioral science.
