NURS 506 - Advanced Physical Assessment, Clinical Reasoning and Diagnosis Across the Lifespan 4.00 credit hours This course builds upon health assessment skills developed in the professional nurse’s baccalaureate education. The theoretical and clinical basis for health assessment by the advance practice nursing student will be developed. The process whereby the advanced nurse practitioners (ANP) utilizes comprehensive history and patient-centered databases, performs physical, psycho-social and cultural assessments to gather specific data relevant to common health problems to patients across the lifespan. Emphasis on clinical reasoning strategies that are required to combine and synthesize patient data into differential diagnosis, identify benefits and risks of tests and treatments and formulate plans for patient management.
Prerequisite(s): NURS 504 , NURS 505 and concurrent enrollment in NURS 507 .
