EDN 552 - Language Development and Learning for Diverse Learners3.00 credit hours This course introduces students to a basic understanding of language acquisition and development from a socio-cultural perspective. Emphasis will be on examining (1) the interplay of language and culture, (2) hypotheses of language acquisition,(3) factors influencing English-as-a-second-language (ESL) learning, (4) major ESL instructional approaches, and (5) best practices and literacy resources appropriate for meeting the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse learners/English language learners (ELL).
